Information / Opt-Out

★ First Impressions

♚ NAME: The Iron Bull
♚ CANON: Dragon Age: Inquisition
♚ SEXUALITY: pansexual
♚ GENDER: male
♚ HEIGHT: 8'0" (according to The World of Thedas Vol II)
♚ VISUAL: Front, back, without patch
♚ MENTAL INFORMATION: Bull has PTSD, telepaths beware.
♚ SHORT BIO: Born on Par Vollen, Bull was one child among many, watched over by a nurturing tamassran instead of parents. As a child he was big and strong; it was assumed he would become a soldier until he showed a propensity for bending or working around rules without really breaking them. The tamassran recommended him for the Ben-Hassrath, the spies and secret police of Qunari society. After training for most of his later childhood and adolescence, Hissrad was given missions in Qunari-controlled territory. Eventually, he is sent to Seheron, a hotly contested area between Tevinter and Par Vollen. Most agents on Seheron last just two years due to the prolonged physical and mental strain of being on constant alert and under threat; Hissrad survived there for eight years, rising in the ranks as his commanders either burnt out or died. At the end of eight years, after a spectacular and ill-advised display of violence, he quietly demanded to be taken to the Ben-Hassrath for re-education, fearing he had lost his mind and his will to do his job.

After Hissrad recovered, the Ben-Hassrath reassigned him as an undercover agent and sent him to Orlais. There he took the identity of a Tal-Vashoth, one who has rejected the teachings of the Qun, and chose the name The Iron Bull. It wasn't long before he was hired into Fisher’s Bleeders, a mercenary company; he stayed with them for several years. During that time, he rescued Cremisius Aclassi from misfortune and violence on the border of Tevinter and Nevarra; during this encounter, the Bull lost his left eye to a flail, but he gained a trusted lieutenant.

Eventually Bull tired of working under Fisher and he left, taking several of Fisher’s people with him, including Krem. He founded the Bull’s Chargers and used the cover of his mercenary company to gather information on Orlesian nobles and anything else of note for the Ben-Hassrath. While living in Thedas, Bull spent his time violating the Qun at every turn: overindulging, lazing about between mercenary jobs, and drinking. He also wrote to his superiors with perfect devotion, maintaining a connection to the Qun and his people despite all outer appearances and behavior. When the Breach was torn open, Bull wanted to investigate; Krem suggested they reach out to the Inquisition, and through him a meeting was arranged. Upon meeting the Inquisitor, Bull revealed his position as a spy, offering all of the information that his Ben-Hassrath contacts have at their disposal in return for a position in the Inquisition. He made no secret that he would be feeding information back to the Qunari, but gained the Inquisitor's trust through the promise of mutual benefit: if he can send good information back to the Triumvirate in Par Vollen and keep their fears assuaged, then he can likely ensure that they won't call for another invasion of the southern continents to restore order. The Inquisitor accepts, and the Bull and the Chargers join the cause.

★ World State

I can adapt Bull to any world state you'd like to play. My default run for him contains the following decisions (Some of these may be spoilers).

♚ INQUISITOR: Lavellan
♚ DEMANDS OF THE QUN: The Chargers were saved. If you're curious about playing against Bull with different outcomes from Demands of the Qun, I can play him as still loyal to the Qun either because the Chargers were sacrificed or because the Inquisitor decided not to make contact with the Ben-Hassrath at all.
♚ ROMANCE: Dorian (open to shipping with others, but Dorian remains a favorite)
♚ ALLIANCES: The Inquisition sided with the mages, allied with the Wardens, Celene remained Empress of Orlais with Briala.

★ Permissions

♚ FLIRTING: Go for it. As long as Bull is in the mood, he's a big flirt. If he's not in the mood, he'll let someone down gently and probably tell them to try again later.
♚ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Bull is fine with physical affection, though he generally won't touch other people unless he's certain they want it. If it's someone he's been intimate with (repeatedly), then he might be more likely to offer affection in public.
♚ VIOLENCE: The Iron Bull is a warrior and he doesn't need a weapon to do serious damage. He won't often start fights, but he will finish them, and he always has the back of anyone he cares about.
♚ RELATIONSHIPS: There are no romantic relationships under the Qun, and Bull has only recently started moving away from its teachings. He is capable of forming close bonds, but for most of his life, friends and people he has sex with were usually mutually exclusive categories. That has changed in the last several years, but he's navigating it with the emotional grace of a teenager.

★ Opt Out

All comments are screened.

♚ BEN-HASSRATH: Bull is a spy, and he's a good one. He has spent most of his life manipulating people to get information and gathering secrets, and has become adept at reading body language and between the lines. This is not something he can turn off, but if you would prefer that Bull never openly analyze your character or try to figure them out, don't hesitate to tell me.

♚ THE QUN: Bull was raised under the Qun and has spent most of his life dedicated to it. It's a philosophy that governs the way his people live, which is considerably different than any human society. The Qun has a poor view of mages and magic-users, and though Bull has changed his mind on the matter, he still has knee-jerk reactions to magic use, especially if it comes as a surprise. Bull is not dogmatic and he is not interested in converting anyone, but he will bring up the Qun now and then. If you would prefer it not come up in conversation, just let me know.

♚ PAST: After 20 years in warzones and leading mercenaries, Bull has seen some messed up things. Specifically, his time on Seheron was deeply traumatic and he bears heavy mental scars from that. There is re-education in his history (voluntary) as well as an episode of dissociation and general break down. If you would like to avoid encountering any of this, I'll avoid explicit mention of it where I can.

♚ SIZE: Bull is 8' tall with large genitalia, and he is very careful about making sure his partners are aware of what they're getting into. People can say yes, they can say no, and they can change their minds - he respects this at all steps of an intimate encounter. If he thinks he might hurt a partner, he will insist that they take it slow. If he thinks a partner is using him to hurt themselves, it's over.
